Local Information

Chipping Campden is a small market town built largely by medieval merchants from wealth gained from the wool trade. When coming from the A44 you have an outstanding view and upon entering the town you are welcomed by many thatched cottages.

One of the most charming and unspoilt of the Cotswold towns, it is often described as having the most perfect High Street in England, with it's beautiful honey coloured stone buildings dating from the 14th to the 17th centuries. The Market Hall (now in the care of the National Trust) is an imposing open sided stone arched building, erected in 1627 to provide shelter for the local produce market.

Visitors are welcome in the Old Silk Mill and the workshop of Harts (Gold and Silversmiths) who are descendants of C R Ashbee's Guild.
There is a wide range of interesting small shops and a large variety of good restaurants, hotels and pubs offering both traditional English and international cuisine.
For those keen on walking there are many public footpaths including the Cotswold Way which starts in Chipping Campden and goes to Bath

Cute and quaint

Our first trip to the Cotswolds. A perfect home base! Close to everything. We truly enjoyed the garden and the cottage was lovely! We enjoyed delicious meals at the red lion and the Luigi bistro. We enjoyed walking the neighbourhood and admiring the beautiful homes and gardens. We bring home many fond memories in our hearts from this beautiful part of England! 8/12/2023

A really great overall experience

What we felt here was that we were not in a holiday let but guests in someone’s home. Beautifully maintained, both inside and out. Probably the best organized information binder we've seen plus a very responsive host. Very well located for walking to the main street and for St James church which was hosting the Chipping Campden Music Festival at the time. What more could one want?

Perfect
Our four night stay at this cottage was just perfect. The cottage oozes with character and is comfortable place to be after a day of sightseeing and or hill walking. We visited during a cool breezy and wet week in April and enjoyed coming “home” to a cozy fire and tea afternoon. The beds were comfortable, there is every possible amenity in the kitchen, and it was all spotless. The town is a perfect balance between not too busy but also not too sleepy. Delicious dinners and tea out in town as well as Dover Hill walk just out outside the front door. I would definitely stay again.
